SHEIKH KHALIFA BIN SALMAN CAUSEWAY BRIDGE, BAHRAIN
The Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Causeway connects Manama with the new power station and desalination plant on the Hidd Peninsula. Designed mainly to carry services the causeway also provides a new dual 2-lane highway connection.
The bridge section isĀ 404m long with a 120m bowstring arch main span on intermediate piers. Main construction is steel with the deck beams painted Sand and the arches highlighted in Gold.
Islamic symbolism features strongly in the design and incorporates

several geometric patterns and motifs. Intermediate piers are star shaped in cross section and rotating star shaped mobiles are incorporated onto the hangers.
